Status of assistance to Djibouti for their NAP process:

• A four-day technical training on National Adaptation Planning (NAP) was held in Djibouti from 30 March to 2 April 2015.
• The training workshop in Djibouti brought together 30 national experts from various ministries and departments as well as members of civil society. The training was delivered at the request of the Ministry of Housing, Urbanism and Environment by a training team drawn from UNDP and UNITAR, with support from the NAP-GSP and the UNDP Country Office.
• NAP training modules jointly developed by GIZ, UNDP and UNITAR were utilized to support the training within the framework of the LEG Guidelines. The country mission was financially supported by the LDCF funded NAP-GSP as well as GIZ.
• Participants enhanced their understanding of the NAP process and the UNFCCC Technical Guidelines on NAPs, and considered how to integrate climate change adaptation into national institutions and development planning.
• Activities included a preliminary stocktaking of the institutional set-up and relevant initiatives who could contribute to and being entry points for the NAP process, and planning for a NAP-roadmap to advance national adaptation planning in Djibouti.
• Previously, a Government delegation from Djibouti attended the NAP-GSP / PAG-PNA Africa Regional Training Workshop in April 2014.
• Mr. Dini Abdallah Omar - nominated focal point - held preliminary discussions with the NAP-GSP team at COP19.
• NAP-GSP will schedule a telconference with the NAP nominated focal point to determine further needs.

Etat de l’appui au processus PNA de Djibouti

• Le PAG-PNA a répondu à la demande officielle d’appui du Gouvernement.
• M. Dini Abdallah Omar, le point focal désigné, a eu des discussions préliminaires avec l’équipe PAG-PNA lors de la COP19 et discutera plus en détail de l’appui du PAG-PNA lors d’une téléconférence qui aura lieu prochainement.
• Une délégation du gouvernement du Djibouti a assisté à la Atelier régional de formation en Afrique Organisé par le PAG-PNA - Addis Abeba, Ethiopie, 21-24 avril 2014.
